Over the course of the year, I will be teaching 2 section of music to grades 1-4, 1 section of music to grade 5, 2 sections of music to middle school grades 6-8, high school choir, middle school choir, and an after school care music program. We will be starting with the ground level basics and working our way on up. We are a small, rural school with an enrollment of 494. 65% of our students are on the free-and-reduced lunch program. However, they are very excited about music being offered in their curriculum. I am hoping to use this first year as a springboard to bigger and better opportunities for music. The administration and staff are extremely supportive of the new course addition. The students are demonstrating at the highest level the six pillars of character education. The excitement in their faces and voices in priceless.
