I teach self-contained 6th grade in Chicago Public Schools. Because I work in a small school in a large urban district, we are often lacking resources. Many of the students at my school speak English as their second language, and as a result some of my students are still working to be reading and writing on grade level. My students are motivated and work hard, and they deserve to have the resources they need to learn best.
