Many of my students have already overcome more challenges in their short time than most adults face in their entire lifetime. The majority of my students are immigrants and English Language Learners. They strive to fit into American culture while also maintaining their own sense of identity. The classroom is often intimidating to my students, but they know that education is important. My students, like every child, have dreams of living their best life. They want to be doctors, construction workers, teachers, and business owners. So, they come to class, and they continue to persevere even when the odds are stacked against them. As their teacher, I have made a commitment to do everything in my power to help them be successful. I will not give up on my students, and I give each student an equal opportunity to excel in my classroom.
