My students qualify for Special Education services because their behaviors are interfering with their own learning and the learning of others in their general education classes. They may have learning disabilities, ADHD or be on the Autism Spectrum, but they all are in my classroom because of their behaviors. I aim to provide a therapeutic environment - using the Re-Education philosophy - to help my students learn the skills necessarily to understand their emotions and be able to control their own behaviors so they can feel successful in my classroom and in the community, and be able to transition back to their general education classes. Most of my students come from low-income, minority families.
