My school is filled with wonderful children with super parents who want the best for their kids. But many of our kids are over scheduled, busy, and just plain distracted. I am hoping that finding books that are interesting and relatable will help them learn how to relax, and sustain a quiet activity for a greater period of time. Also I want my student to see that books are not always just for learning and testing and answering questions. It is my hope that they will see that books and stories are entertaining and that reading is a nice way to unwind. I fear that many of my students don't know how to calm their bodies and minds. Maybe this will be a first step.
