My kindergartners are a sweet and excited group of scholars. They love learning, read aloud, and writing especially- I have already seen such progress in our community and learning in just a month! The one thing my students desperately need is constant management for attention (as a lot of 5 year olds need). While our sense of community and belonging is on its way, we need as much help as we can get to foster a safe and caring learning environment. This comes through both the explicit instruction and interventions as well as the implicit factors, such as a too-small carpet, or our daily mantra of "I'm smart, I'm important, I'm loved". When my students latch onto an idea or a concept, it's hard for them to let it go! I am already impressed and excited for the progress they have made as individuals and a class.
