The students in my Journalism 3/4 class are excited, hard-working kids who can't wait to get down to the business of putting our school's yearbook and newspaper together. Some of them chose the class because they desire a career in journalism, others because they enjoy working on big projects and being creative. In any event, after only a few class periods, I can tell that I have a really special group of kids on my hands and I want to do whatever it takes to get them the equipment they need to do the job. I am new to this school, but I am amazed by the excitement and positive energy that all the students have. I can tell that there is a drive for learning here that is special. However, this is a Title I school, and often we don't have the resources for specialty equipment like this. In fact, this lens will be matching a nearly brand-new camera that was just acquired last year, so it will be awhile before we get any more funds to upgrade it.
