As a resource room teacher, I work with students who have disabilities such as dyslexia, developmental delays, and other learning disabilities. These students struggle with many early reading skills such as decoding, fluency, and comprehension. Many of the students are on reading levels that are far below their actual grade level. My students are eager to read story books but it is difficult to find fun, engaging stories at their level. In addition to having learning difficulties, the students I work with live in an urban setting and qualify for free breakfast and lunch program.
