My school is a Title 1 school. That being said, about 70% our students qualify to receive free or reduced price lunch. Also, we have been working hard to increase parent involvement. When they come on to a classroom, they appreciate when the teacher makes them feel it is a shared space. Most of my students do not have many outside rich experiences outside their homes, so school is a place for discovery. I want them to feel welcome, safe, and happy since I know several of them struggle with many other personal hardships and carry burdens they shouldn't.
