As a first grade teacher, there is nothing more exciting than watching my students learn to read and write! They are so proud of themselves and make huge leaps in all academic areas. In first grade, many students go from being non-readers and writers to being strong, confident readers and writers. I teach in a low-income public school. This year, I will have a high English Language Learner population as well as many students who come from a low-income background. In my classroom, my students will have a wide variety of abilities and backgrounds. I hope to provide my students with a love of reading and writing.
