With so many skills we teach in our PE curriculum and my personal values in integrating academics into specials, my students keep me on the go! I am constantly creating new materials and games to keep up their interests! My students love PE and are constantly improving in skills and thrive on new activities and games to keep them engaged and challenged. In working with them, I have learned a ton about games and activities that they love to do; including ice skating, skiing, and the Native Youth Olympics! I work in a Title 1 school, one of the poorest in all of Anchorage with families of very low Socioeconomic Status. Every child in our school receives daily free breakfast and lunch. We align our instruction to Common Core Standards in every subject and teach students to demonstrate their learning using text-based evidence, even in P.E.! My school is also very diverse and requires differentiation to meet the many different learning styles and behaviors of our scholars.
