Everyday when my students enter my room, I hope that they will learn as much as they can but I also hope for it to be a safe place for them even if just for 6 hours. My students are growing up in the heart of Washington Heights. Many of them are English Language Learners and so visuals that support their learning are extremely important. They also learn better when they work with manipulatives that support the concepts that they are learning. The students work very hard and are passionate about their learning. Our school does it's best to provide the students with current materials that support their learning however with budget restrictions, it is difficult. We currently have 2 document cameras for 900 students. This posses a problem because it is checked out on a first come first serve basis. With over 30 classrooms this is a bit of a problem. The staff at our school has worked very hard to achieve and stay as a school in good standing. We are currently an "A" school!
