My third graders are active learners that need a variety of work spaces that engage them in their academic endeavors. In my classroom, I like to give them the option to work where they are most comfortable, but also, where they know they can make smart choices to stay the most focused on the task at hand. This project includes a multitude of flexible seating options such as pillows, lap trays, a high top table, and portable laptop seats. Students will use these flexible seating options when working in their independent reading and math stations, projects and group assignments. This also gives the ability for my more active students a chance to wiggle a bit without distracting other students' learning. I found giving students a voice and choice, improves students ownership over their work. My students enjoy using different flexible seating options to enhance their understanding while learning. Giving them this voice and choice not only helps them academically to work hard and take risks, but it also helps build a relationship with my students because it gives them a sense of responsibility and confidence that I can trust them to choose where they can be most successful. The more confident they feel, the more they are willing to push to succeed. Thank you so much for your support. My students will be so excited to receive their new flexible seating options.
