My students come from extremely diversified backgrounds and levels of background knowledge. Most are from households where both parents work, sometimes opposite shifts. Many have never had the opportunity to make a personal connection or build on an experience especially in science. Just imagine never having the chance to grow a plant or taste a cashew. It is difficult to understand what you have not experienced. My class are typical 5th grade students, most often pretty well split evenly male/female. The difference is teaching them to kindle a love and fire for education that begins with creating an atmosphere of trust! Students learn in an environment where it is a safe place to take a chance! Within my class are all levels of students including Gifted students that need encouragement and avenues for continued growth.Our school prides itself on being family oriented, addressing the needs of all learners and valuing parent participation. Educating our students will change the world!
