I am privileged to work at charter school that allows me to step out of the box and discover new ways of teaching mathematics. 6th-graders have been spoon feed math since day one. It is as if numbers just fall out the sky and by moving them around, they get the right answer. But what is the answer for and how does it relate to the real world? My 6th-graders need to be exposed to the latest technology because they will be the ones creating future technology. By the time they are in college, today's tech world will be totally different and they need to be prepared.
