Students come to art class ready to explore and use their imagination to create works of art. They are often happily surprised at the outcome of their projects. Art gives them an opportunity to make mistakes, get a little messy and know that it is ok. It allows them to express their individuality and even if they struggle in other classes, in art, they know everyone can be successful. Having a wide variety of art materials will enable my students to expand their artistic potential and gain confidence in their ability to be creative. Before we begin a project, we start with a mantra, which we say together as a class. It affirms to them that they are creative, brilliant, positive, daring, and an artist. After the project is completed, we celebrate together and share what we have accomplished. The supplies requested will go a long way to help students as we explore art in alignment with Nevada Academic Content Standards.
