During our day, my students are offered independent work time in both math and reading. For kindergartners, these independent options need to be targeted towards specific skills and must be engaging. By offering iPads as a center, I am able to find unique ways to have my students practice skills in a way that is up to date with the world in which they live in. Technology can be a win-win for both students and teachers if utilized effectively. In my room, students access our reading curriculum as well as our math intervention curriculum to practice skills that I have selected for them when they are not working with me. I can log in and check to see the progress my students are making at any given time. These are both engaging activities that the students all love to do. Not only do iPads offer my students extra targeted practice, but it can be a tool used to share student successes with families. Students can use the SeeSaw app and share their work they have completed with their family and any assigned work I may give. It is also a great tool to communicate with families and work towards building a good home/school relationship.
