Imagine your a kid again entering the third grade. You are amazed by how your teacher has taken her time to setup the classroom just for you and your friends. You take in the colorful area rug, the positive message on colorful post-its sitting on a file folder with your name on it. You can only imagine what the folder is for and your teacher even has freshly sharpened pencils ready for you to use. It is so important for students to feel comfortable, safe and excited about school. I plan to create this environment for my kids. Having a soft area rug that they can rub their hands on if they are nervous or for kids that do not like change, they can have an assigned circle for them. Additionally, it will create a homey environment for my kids that are without. Furthermore, I plan to use the colorful sticky notes for my kids to write a positive message to each other every day. We often do not hear the good attributes about ourselves. As for the filing folders, I plan to create lap books for my students so that they can go back and review concepts and to keep as a memento of their work. Finally, students cannot be successful without pencils and glue. Pencils and glue are needed daily in our classroom. My students take notes, solve problems, create diagrams and projects. Having access of pencils and glue is vital. Students without their tools cannot be successful. It would be like having a doctor without his or her stethoscope or a mechanic without their tools.
