The beginning of each school year is a challenge due to many of my students™ lack of self-confidence in their math abilities. My students are required to read the above quote any time they insult themselves or their abilities. As we work together throughout the year, the students become less negative towards themselves and math. Starting next year, all freshman will be attending Patriot University. The school is creating this university in hopes of overcoming many of the challenges found in our rural school. We are planning to provide a more focused and individualized support system for our students. We are working closely with New Schools in order to help our students graduate from high school with college credits. This is one of our goals due to many of our students being first generation college students.
