My students are freshman that come to class excited about their first year in high school. One goal that I have is to help these students become organized and with the use of the Interactive Notebook they will be on their way. Southampton County High School has little diversity: 44.7% Minority Enrollment 55.3% White 40.7% Black 2.2% Hispanic 1.3% Two or More Races 0.3% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander 0.1% American Indian/Alaska Native 0.1% Asian My classroom needs books that teach about different cultures and with America Street this will be possible. When learning about people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, students gain different perspectives. It better prepares students to work in a global economy. I love teaching and helping them to build their confidence as they become better organized and more empathetic to people in their world.
