Having a shoulder rest while learning to play or while performing on a violin or viola is crucial! Having a shoulder rest comfortably helps the violinist or viola player keep their instrument up between the jaw and the left shoulder with less tension on the body. Having all my violin and viola players on shoulder rests will allow the student to confidently and correctly perform more advanced string playing concepts such as shifting, and vibrato. The shoulder rests are also adjustable which will allow students to perform with correct posture. In addition, these shoulder rests will be an upgrade to the foam and pillow pads most of my students are using.
