I work with students who have learning disabilities in reading. My students love to read, however, a lot of the books provided are on grade level. Most of my students are reading below grade level. Many times when they are with their class they will not check out books on their reading level. My students understand that everyone is on a different reading level. I want them to freely be able to choose a book of interest on their reading level and read the book. I also want them to develop deep meaning from their books by creating projects after reading books and present them to the class.
