This is my 26th year of teaching and the diversity of my students has always been very attractive to me. I teach children from around the world. The students in my school come from disadvantaged backgrounds. We are a Title 1 school and 50% of our student population receives free or reduced lunch. My school has a concentration in science. Every grade level specializes in a specific field of science. Our students become mini biologists, geologists, botanists, physicists, environmentalists and zoologists. Our students are inquisitive and excited to learn about their community and how it is part of a unique ecosystem. The diversity of our population lends to many interesting discussions and affords everyone the opportunity to learn more about the world, individuality and how to come together as a community. My position affords me the ability to interact with more than half of my school's students weekly.
