I teach special education for grades 6-12. Our district does not belong to a local vocational technology school. I would like to start a program at our school which has been endorsed by the Oklahoma State Department of Education for special education students. This program is called TechNow. TechNow is a program designed specifically for expanding education and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. It is a community-based enrichment program designed to provide technology skills training to Oklahoma high school students with disabilities, prepare them for post-secondary education/employment, and connect them with state and federal agencies that provide necessary support services. The mission of the Tech-Now program is to empower students with disabilities to make positive career choices that will allow them to lead productive and prosperous lives.
