I work at a Title I school with a variety of students. During science time, I also have students that are on the Autism Spectrum in my classroom. Over half of our population is on free or reduced lunch. We also have several military families at our school. I am constantly trying to make learning exciting for these students so that they are excited and motivated to come back daily. My students are interested in science, however, our students often fall short in science. One of their lowest areas is in the Scientific Process. I believe this is mostly due to our lack of resources to provide hands-on scientific lessons. Students learn more when they are given the time to explore and do. We have a wonderful science lab that is lacking in resources, that the students would love to utilize. Our students are also low in informational text reading. I would love to tie this into the science with science reading and corresponding hands-on activities to deepen their understanding.
