I teach 11-12 year olds in 7th grade. This in my opinion is the best age group in middle school. They have wonderful personalities and are defining the habits and skills that will be with them for years to come. Most of the students are eager to learn new concepts, especially if it involves technology and hands-on activities. Some students still are more difficult to motivate. However, finding what motivates them and allowing them to grow academically is a joy to witness. Many come from low-income families. Many of our families work in factories or in agriculture. Our school is a Title 1 rural school without a lot of technology. Being a small school makes us a close knit group of educators and students, an extended family so to speak. Our educators are dedicated to making students' learning experiences meaningful and fun.
