My school is in a big city and my students are diverse. They do not have access to many experiences outside of school to enhance their learning. They come to school excited about learning, but not always prepared. I have students on all levels, from high risk to advanced. They are expected to meet high standards and expectations during their first grade year. I also have many students who are English Language Learners, and speak Spanish at home. We have many caring and involved parents, as well as many families who need assistance in helping their students learn.
