My students live in a high poverty area. Many aren't fortunate enough to have a parent home to read with them at night or help with homework. They don't have access to resources that students in the neighboring town have, yet they are thankful for what they are given. My students come to school everyday eager to learn and achieve and welcome learning opportunities. Our school is an exceptional school. It places a strong emphasis on academics and is college and career driven. As an interventionist, I pull-out students in first, second and third grade. I work with small groups for 20 minute periods to help them reach their reading goals.
