Previous administration focused on college readiness and removed most of the tools from my middle school. I am currently part of a movement to restore STEM programs in schools and incorporate making and construction into design and engineering to create the builders of tomorrow. With a table saw, my students could make larger, more innovative projects that impact their love of learning and the community. Currently, whenever we need to cut large pieces of wood students need to get an adult (usually me) to lay out sawhorses and a fence and try to cut it with a circular saw as accurately as I can. Saw Stop has a patented feature that detects human flesh and stops the blade before serious injury occurs. With a Saw Stop table saw not only will be able to make accurate cuts more easily, but the safety features of the saw will allow students to use the saw with moderate supervision. Also, as a portable saw, we can take our operation into the school or community.
