Our class will learn how to identify symbolism, and to find meaning while reading this novel. We will read illustrative language and discuss the importance of the author using such language to tell the story. Reading the novel, The Honest Truth, will introduce my students to a character who is faced with a tough decision on how he wants to cope with the possibility of dying at a young age. He decides to live his life to the fullest and attempts to check things off of his short bucket list. The theme of resiliency is strong throughout the entire novel.
