We are a Title 1 school with a large Hispanic population. Our robotics team is made up of 4th, soon to be 5th grade girls who are passionate about learning. They collaborate to face tough challenges. They never give up. In the 3 short weeks they have been a team, they have written and presented a funding proposal to our school principal and assistant principal. At this meeting they proposed a variety of funding options, including a bake sale and cake walk, which they are currently running to raise money for their First Lego League (FLL) registration fees. They are also presenting to the faculty and staff of our school this next week. They are inspiring to me and my colleagues and will soon inspire our whole school community to participate in STEM activities, courses, and careers.
