My students come from varied backgrounds, ethnicity's, and life experiences. Some children walk to school, some ride bikes, but most ride the bus. The school has a "neighborhood" feel to it and a nice sense of community. Our school is dedicated to "project based instruction" and we encourage students to create, experiment and problem solve for discovery learning. The students receive instruction in the core subjects but also receive fine arts instruction from certified music specialists and certified art specialists. All children in grades 2-5 have the opportunity to perform at least once a year. Many of the performances integrate with core curriculum as children experience and perform authentic musical pieces, games, and dances from other cultures and regions. Teachers collaborate to create enhanced learning experiences with cross-curricular activities and projects.
