Each item—flashlights, LEGOs, small toys—has been carefully chosen to turn abstract concepts into hands-on experiences, fostering deeper understanding and lasting engagement.\r\nThanks to your generosity, our students have become little scientists! They have loved exploring and experimenting with the materials provided through DonorsChoose. Their eyes lit up when we used the fans to see how pushes and pulls affect motion. They felt so grown-up using stopwatches to measure big and small forces. At our Fall Festival, our budding scientists used the donated scales to weigh and compare pumpkins in our very own school pumpkin patch.\r\nLooking ahead to our next unit on Light and Shadows, the flashlights will help our scientists understand how shadows are formed. In the spring, the birdseed and assorted animals will support our unit on animals and living things.\r\nYour financial support is deeply appreciated and is helping our young scientists grow, explore, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Because of you, over 100 second graders will benefit from a rich variety of hands-on learning and play this year. From creating colorful art projects to building with clay, journaling, and enjoying active play at recess, these supplies will help our students grow, explore, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for your commitment to supporting educators and enriching student learning. The excitement on our students' faces was priceless as they opened the boxes for the first time—some even gasped with joy! These additions have already made a tremendous difference in our daily learning environment, and I am truly grateful for your kindness.\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating options have transformed our classroom into a space that promotes both comfort and creativity. Whether students are reading on a circle seat, writing at a low table, or discussing stories in a cozy reading corner, they now have the freedom to choose where they learn best. This flexibility has made learning feel more fun and engaging for everyone, and it has helped foster independence and collaboration among the children.\r\n\r\nOur new books have also sparked a renewed love for reading. Every day, students eagerly dive into new stories and explore topics that stretch their imaginations and build their understanding of the world. They are a key component for our phonics instruction. \r\n The boards allow students to work in small groups, pairs and independently to practice their skills and grow as readers and writers. Since using the word building materials we have seen a lot of growth in the student's spelling skills. This was reflected in the scores on student mid-year assessments. \r\n As we continue to use the word working materials, we look forward to watching our student's confidence and independence grow.
