I want to set up a coffee cart that my special education students will run to help them learn valuable life and vocational skills. Our students will take orders from teachers throughout the week, fill orders, and make deliveries. Through these tasks they will learn some of the skills that they can use to be as independent as possible. My kids need opportunities to communicate and interact with others to help them grow and gain independence. The coffee cart will be the perfect way for them to practice communication, money, organization, and vocational skills. Often, students like mine can struggle to live independently or even be given the chance to work due to the limitations others perceive in them. By giving them practice at the skills they will learn from this experience, I am giving them an opportunity to improve their chances at a more independent life.
