My first grade students are full of energy when they come in to start their day of learning. They are rambunctious at times and ready to get started. We start our day with breakfast, and then we share in the clean-up. My students look forward to our morning activities which begin with reading, writing, and phonics. . My young students are 6 - 7 years of age and live in one of the "most dangerous" cities in the U.S. (it is labeled as having one of the "highest poverty rates" as well). Yet, these smiling faces come to school each day ready to learn!
