My students not only dream of making a difference, they are making a difference. Students have worked to change a child's life by raising money to pay for cleft lip surgery. Taught the love of reading to young children by reading and giving them books to call their own. Upperclassmen formed a mentor relationship with younger students. Support a women's shelter and gathering supplies to create gift boxes for residents. Several students spend time at a local day care, inspiring young children to. Others provide comfort to aging seniors. There have been blood drives, a food bank, cancer walks and neighborhood clean-ups. Many of these students face daily challenges such as walking in "safe corridors" to reach school. Others arrive by city bus at their own expense.
