My students reside in a low-income, poverty-stricken neighborhood. Despite the circumstances, they love to learn, and make an effort to attend school every day. They love being engaged in cooperative learning activities across the curriculum, and seek to compete at every given opportunity. Our school is a cool and safe place which enables them to have access to so many things. Students learn foreign languages, participate in cultural and holiday programs, learn to play various instruments, and create outstanding art projects. They also have access to technology in the classroom as well as in our technology labs. Breakfast is served in addition to lunch. There are after school programs for struggling students and ESL learners. Additionally, the after school programs provide students a well-balanced dinner before they receive instruction.
