Several of my students lack the luxury of having books at home. They treasure books from the school library, and very few of them visit the local city library. The families in the school community are focused on having their basic needs met rather than purchasing or providing books for their children, which is heartbreaking. My school is a Title I School, with most students receiving free and reduced lunch. Most of the parents are working two or even three jobs to pay for basic needs.

About my class
