My students are from inner-city Bridgeport, and they are looking for real world applications for the things they are learning in school. The majority of my students speak Spanish as their first language, and each grade has one bilingual class where the primary instruction is in Spanish for students who are new arrivals to the country. We are one of the largest elementary schools in the state of Connecticut with about 1200 students, and I see a little over half of them of them during the course of a week.
