My students have moderate-severe autism. All of them have communication disabilities and some are functionally non-verbal. Most of my students also have learning, processing, and sensory disabilities as well. About 85% of the student population in my school qualifies for low-income services. Due to budget constraints, my classroom lacks supplies that are vital to their educational development. I often use my own money to purchase needed items. My students are my babies and they deserve the best I have to offer. This is why I will do everything I can to obtain opportunities and materials that they need. In a neighboring school district, every student has access to an I pad. Our poorest students with disabilities deserve the same opportunities as their suburban non-disabled peers.
