Our school reopened in September 2013 as an inclusive school for Pre-K to Grade 2 students. We are located in an urban area and our students come from disadvantaged, inner-city homes Many of our young students have had little academic preparation, and many also have special needs. The staff is dedicated to meeting these needs, and differentiate the curriculum as needed so that all of our children can access the curriculum. Because of their needs, our students must take occasional breaks to calm their senses and refocus in order to continue with the classroom lesson. During these times, they often prefer soft and multi- textured materials to hold and lie on, as well as quiet corners. Once they are refocused, they are able to continue their classwork and are able to be productive and participate happily.
