My students are not always that motivated to read, because they see it as just one more task to do. Also, they don't have a lot of opportunities outside of school to experience things and build background knowledge. There are not many resources for them to choose from. Books may be the only chance they have to get outside of the world they know. The more things we can provide for them at school, the more chances they have to look outside of their small world. I want to encourage them to dream big!
