My students are seven 3 and 4 year old boys with Autism. The maximum class size is 9. Six of my seven students are English learners. This is my second year with the older students, and they love the routine of Circle time where we sing songs, and go over our schedule for the day. The older students are beginning to greet each other and follow our classroom routines. Two of our three year old's are learning to sit in a chair, and we are always looking for activities that they will find engaging. My students are usually smiling. One student's Dad is a mechanic, and during Choice time, he loves to pretend play mechanic. Another student that just turned three loves any and all activities related to fish, and after reading a book about fish to him, he will repeat the book back, verbatim. Socializing is difficult for young students on the spectrum, and a recent milestone is that students have begun to hold hands and run during recess. Students can be heard laughing out loud!
