My school is located in a high needs and low income neighborhood in Brooklyn. The neighborhood has a high school graduation rate of 29.9%. The school, a department of education turnaround school, is in its first year of redevelopment. My students and I will be working together for two years (kindergarten and first grade), we are a looping school. The children are from diverse backgrounds- speaking other languages at home and many are identified as having particular learning needs. For many of my students it is their first experience in a formal school setting. They are eager to learn. I am excited to embark in the learning process with them and want to ensure they are given the richest learning experience possible. If children are given a strong early foundation into academics, achievement and success will be inevitable. I believe in my students and you can too by supporting us!
