This project will help me to be a teacher who will be reading to my students throughout the day. One of the most important things I can do as a teacher to prepare children for success in school and in reading is to read aloud to them. Read-alouds help build listening skills, comprehension skills, and so much more. At times the children should also be reading, to themselves, other students, or the teacher. Giving children access to all varieties of literature is extremely important for their success. Children’s literature is of value because it fosters personality and social development. Children are very impressionable during the formative years, and children’s literature can help them develop into caring, intelligent, and friendly people. Providing a literacy rich classroom with multiple opportunities and forms of reading each day will aid in providing readers of every ability and modality the chance to fall in love with a good book. This project will assist in building a passion for reading in our kindergarten classroom and will spark the interests of my young readers and writers.
