I teach kids from grades K-6. They are vibrant, hard working, and precious and include a variety of ethnicities, first languages, and home lives. I have kids with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, a combination of all three, and other less often occurring disabilities. Despite their challenges, these young people work harder and with more determination than many typically developing students. Because of their disabilities, they can be incredibly compassionate towards others. My kids WANT to learn. They yearn to do well. They work as hard as they can in both the general education and special education setting, but sometimes their challenges really get in the way. This can be especially true for students with attention difficulties. Increasing their ability to focus would give these kids such an advantage to overcome their learning difficulties and close their gap towards grade level performance. Our school is Title I with a high free and reduced lunch and ELL population.
