Greetings! I am Reading/Language Arts teacher at Thomasboro Academy in Charlotte, NC. At this Title 1 school, my students have a lot of odds stacked against them, from homelessness to gangs. Despite the challenges they face each morning my scholars wake up and come EXCITED to learn. Their world outside of school may be bleak and somewhat discouraging, but through reading they are allowed to escape to another place! Alan Bennett said it best, "a book is a device to ignite the imagination." I truly believe that and with your help, I know that we can continue to make READING FUNdamental by giving my scholars the opportunity to "rent" access to books from the "READbox."
