My students consist of a Kindergartener and First graders. They are some of the hardest working students I have ever had in my class. These students have developmental delays, sensory needs, motor needs, and language needs. Their needs are too severe for them to participate in the general education curriculum, therefore, we have a self-contained classroom that contains only students with IEPs. The school is a low socioeconomic, rural school, in which many students receive free/reduced lunch. Many of them do not have any experiences outside of our small town. Many of the parents want what is best for their child, by see unable or unsure of how to help them. Many of the students in my classroom do not have basic life skills, which we are working on daily.
