Indiana ranks #12 from the top of the most obese states. At EMS we are trying to help move that ranking to a much higher number. We feel that daily cardiovascular activity and/or fitness activities are imperative to accomplishing this. This is modeled at every grade level in the district. Our students really really enjoy all type of fitness activities, especially cardio activities. They also know why it so important. Having jump ropes, agility ladders, battle ropes, a RipSurfer, toning bars, and resistance bands will allow the opportunity for our students to engage in fun cardio and muscular strength activities. The cart will make transporting and storage less time consuming as well as keeping the equipment in good working order. I feel that having the above equipment for all Physical Education classes will definitely enhance student learning as it will help them to participate in the necessary daily cardio activity that they so desperately need! I know this because we use this type of equipment with our students and they express it verbally to us on a weekly basis. I feel that our students' learning experiences can be further advanced with this equipment because it will take less time to set-up/take-down, provide a small ratio of equipment to student, and provide even more motivation for them to participate in cardio activity and/or fitness activities.
