Breakout EDU is a highly engaging, motivating interactive learning game platform. Breakout kits allow me to turn my classroom into an escape room. Students will work together in small groups to solve a series of challenging academic puzzles that use critical thinking in order to open multiple locks on a locked box. Games are aligned to standards and available for all content areas. Breakout EDU kits will help my students practice collaboration, communication, team-building skills, reflective learning, problem solving, and inquiry. My students will have to use content knowledge in a manner that gives them ownership of their learning while solving a real-world scenario. Students will learn how important it is to participate so every voice is heard, to listen to one another, and to have positive working relationships with each member of their group in order to be successful. They will have to persevere while working through multiple attempts and build on prior mistakes when solving puzzles to open locks. Breakout EDU will also nurture students’ social emotional learning competencies, as they build self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. After each game, students will reflect on and learn from their challenges and successes. Oh, and it's fun, too! Each kit will allow a group of 5-6 students to work as a team. Included is a license to access and all materials needed to play any of the entire platform of 1500 + games.
